How It Works
RGB text from MS-Word will be converted to Black only in all cases except one: an embedded profile will be applied instead. We will break this down into 2 parts, with and without embedded profiles.
1. If the original PDF from MS-Word does not contain an embedded profile, we will get Black only.
Whether you use Honor applications settings or Simple convertion in your Color Management settings of your PDFRender, you will get Black only on RGB Black text and objects. If it is supposed to be a Black only job, either of these settings will do.
If you need to apply a profile to your RGB objects for other elements of the job (colored images or objects), you will get a 4 color Black that is made of 0-0-0-100. Cyan, magenta and yellow will be rendered but will have a value of 0. That way, color images are still 4 colors but the text or line art is black only.
2. The document contains an embedded profile.
If you remove the embedded profile either by an action or in the Color Mangement settings of the PDFRender, you will get Black only.
If you remove the embedded profile but apply a profile from the Color Management settings of the PDFRender, you will get a 4 color Black that is made of 0-0-0-100. If you apply the embedded profile, you will get a 4 color Black.
Why is this Important?
In previous versions of Prepress, RGB text was always converted to 4 colors, you couldn't get just black. If you set up the Press profile to be gray, text was screened, never solid.Now you have many tools to properly produce black for RGB text and other objects in the job.
