PDFRender: Color Limits
At A Glance

You can keep up to 27 spot colors and 4 process colors in a job when using either PDFRender or TIFFRender.
An unlimited number of colors may be converted to process. Originally, PDFRender had a limit of 64.

How It Works

In PDFRender, Separations are set to either Keep or Convert.

When a document contains up to 27 spots, they are detected, kept and rendered by PDFRender. When set to convert, the number of spot colors is unlimited.

Why is this Important?
Ideally, the supplied document only contains the spot and process colors that are intended to print. In reality, artists often create files with unnecessary spot colors. Prepress allows conversion on the fly no matter how many extra colors are present. Although not new, it is nice to remember that PDFRender allows for more than twice as many kept spots as PostScript Render.
